The Sheboygan Liars Club started over 30 years ago when a couple of friends began meeting at Bumps Bar to play liar's dice. Players roll five dice, look at them and either tell the other players what they rolled or lie about it. The players must then decide whether the player is bluffing or telling the truth. The loser has to put money in the pot. Eventually more people started playing the game and eventually the pot and number of players grew.
Several years later it was decided to form a Club and hence the Liars Club became a reality. This also prompted the idea for a Street Dance and Brat Fry with proceeds to be given to the needy. Now, funding scholarships and programs for the disabled has become as much a part of the club as the dice game itself.
Since its inception the Sheboygan Lairs Club has donated over $200,000 to Scholarships for North High, South High, Sheboygan Christian High School, Lutheran High School and numerous charities such as the Special Olympics, Boys and Girls Club, Ella Klemme Home, James Madison School for the handicapped, and have provided financial aid to those in need.
